ART Therapy
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique approach to psychotherapy. ART is unique because the ART Therapist guides the client to replace the negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing. Once the negative images have been replaced by positive ones, the triggers will be gone. It is recognized as an effective intervention in numerous publications.
ART therapy works by helping people change the way distressing images and sensations are stored in the brain, using techniques like eye movements, voluntary image replacement, and memory reconsolidation. Even if someone has not experienced a major trauma, many mental health symptoms are tied to painful memories or entrenched negative thought patterns—ART helps "re-code" those.
So, while trauma is a major area of application, ART can be very effective for a range of issues beyond trauma. It's also relatively fast—many people report noticeable results within a few sessions.
At our Arlington, TX-based counseling practice, we are proud to employ an ART trained therapist, offering trauma treatment to DFW, Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Mansfield and surrounding area residents. Our Arlington, TX office also offers online counseling and trauma treatment for residents in the state of Texas.

+ How long does treatment with ART take?
- ART is administered during a therapy session and typically takes 50 to 90 minutes. It may take between one and five sessions to resolve a single trauma or phobia. For more persistent diagnoses such as depression, OCD and substance use, more frequent ART sessions may be necessary and you may be seen twice weekly for these types of concerns. After treatment with ART, clients often report feeling calm, free, relaxed, empowered, energetic and hopeful.
+ Do you offer ART therapy intensive treatment?
- Yes, the therapist can provide ART intensive sessions of 2 hours up to 4 hours depending on the client and situation; if intensives are done, there will be regimented breaks in between processing for it to be most effective.
- Fees will be adjusted accordingly due to the amount of time spent in intensive.
- Clinician will screen for client readiness
- Please note, insurance does not over multi hour sessions, but are offered through private pay and affordable sliding scale counseling rates.
